Once you’ve hired the best painters and decorators Manchester has available to sort out your new home or to revitalise your office this year, you’ll want to add in a few personal items to really make it a pleasant environment to be in – and plants are a great way to go about this. But what are the best plants for feng shui? Here’s our pick of some of the best.

Boston ferns
Improving the quality of the air at home or at work is vital for good feng shui, so invest in Boston ferns or an Areca palm in order to achieve this quickly and easily.

Bamboo
Bamboo is thought by many to be one of the luckiest houseplants out there, so if you want to turn your fortunes around this year, then this could well be the way to do it.

Ficus
Bring in a big ficus at work or in your living room if you’ve got low ceilings and often feel a bit hemmed in. These plants are also great for purifying the air.

African violets
The leaves of this particular plant are said to resemble coins, so it’s come to symbolise wealth – perfect for the office if you’re doing all you can to maximise profits at the moment.

Philodendron
This magical little plant thrives very well in artificial light so if you don’t have big windows at work, it would be a great choice. Through its heart-shaped leaves, it’s said to represent fire so if you’ve got a cold office that needs a little warmth, bring this one into work.
